ABSTRACT:
Menstrual literacy is an essential component of adolescent reproductive health education, yet boys are often excluded from menstrual health discussions due to social stigma, cultural taboos, and gender-based misconceptions. Limited awareness among adolescent boys contributes to teasing, discrimination, and inadequate support for girls during menstruation. Multimedia interventions such as videos, animation, mobile applications, social media campaigns, interactive modules, and digital storytelling have emerged as innovative educational strategies to improve menstrual literacy and promote positive attitudes among adolescents. This integrative review aims to examine the effectiveness of multimedia interventions in improving menstrual literacy among adolescent boys. The findings revealed that multimedia interventions significantly improved menstrual knowledge, reduced misconceptions, and encouraged supportive attitudes among adolescent boys. Interactive and audio-visual methods were found to be more engaging and effective than traditional lecture-based approaches. Digital platforms and social media-based education enhanced participation, communication, and accessibility of menstrual health information. Several studies also reported increased empathy, reduced stigma, and improved peer support behaviors among boys following multimedia-based educational programs. The review concludes that multimedia interventions are effective tools for promoting menstrual literacy among adolescent boys. Incorporating technology-based menstrual education into school health programs can foster gender sensitivity, reduce menstrual stigma, and support inclusive reproductive health education. Further research is recommended to evaluate long-term behavioral outcomes and develop culturally appropriate multimedia educational strategies.
